Realism and hyper-realism in Museumpark Rotterdam
The Rotterdam Museumpark presents in Spring 2018 two exhibitions about (hyper) realism.
First, there’s Dissident Gardensat Het Nieuwe Instituut. It examines our connection with nature and the impact of technology on our lives and environment, hereby addressing challenges like sustainability and material innovation. Added to that it explores new roles of designers and architects: the role of researcher, game developer and activist.
The second expo is Hyperrealism in Museum Kunsthal. Visitors are exposed to realistic yet larger-than-life-size human sculptures. It raises questions about identity and the possibility of ‘manufacturing’ humans. How do we see ourselves and others? It’s an interesting discussion topic in the modern selfie-culture.
